MedComms Networking - 21 May 2024
Hi
Have you seen, we've something a little different this year on #MedComms Day, 12 June?
The online Festival of #MedComms at 13.00-15.00 UK time is a unique networking and careers event for professionals in healthcare communications, brought to you in collaboration with pobl. and PharmiWeb and Word Monster. The event will take place on a virtual collaboration platform called Gather, and will feature spaces for branded exhibition, networking, 1-2-1 career support and the freelance community.
We've 100 delegates signed up already and the talent acquisition teams from Avalere Health, IPG Health Medical Communications and performance-io have confirmed they will be there, with more to come. We'd love to have you participate as well.
For more information about sponsorship and speaking opportunities, please contact Tom Davies at pobl. directly on tom@pobl.work
Anyone can sign up as a delegate to come along for free and join the fun on the day. Please encourage all relevant others to meet you there.
These days, #MedComms Day is largely a social media event using hashtag #MedComms and none of us knows quite what will happen until the day. That’s part of the fun. The more variety and surprises the better. Be creative. But details of any special activities I hear about, like the Festival, will be added at MedCommsDay.com, so please let me know your plans.
Meanwhile, instances of peer-reviewed publications now appearing in their final published form with obvious AI prompts still included in the text, have sparked lively social media discussion about the basic integrity of the scientific publications process. Is it in fact fit for purpose? In tomorrow's free #MedComms webinar, we will talk about the practicalities involved in publishing a peer-review paper and who is involved in what steps. We'll discuss how AI tools are already being used by authors, other contributors, peer-reviewers and the production teams themselves. We'll highlight the pitfalls and we'll think about how these tools can be built into the process while maintaining the high level of trust in the integrity of scientific publishing that is so important for everyone. On our panel we will be joined by Laura Dormer (Becaris Publishing), Hamish McDougall (SAGE Publishing) and Jonathan Patience (Taylor and Francis). Join us. Everyone's welcome.
Here's news of some other relevant upcoming activities I've spotted that might be also of interest to members of this community...
A new podcast was released by ISMPP, From Pixels to Patients: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence in Medical Communication, hosted by Victoria Hart with industry experts Kelly Soldavin and Jon Viney.
News was announced of the First pharma signatory of the Pitch Positive Pledge!
A free webinar on 6 June might be of interest, from Paul Simms of Impatient health, Smarter storytelling through interactive data visualization: bring complex communications to life!
