MedComms Networking - 17 October 2023
Hi
We've already 400 registrations for tomorrow's free #MedComms webinar with Matt Lewis (Global Chief Artificial and Augmented Intelligence Officer at Inizio Medical). So it should be lively. We'll talk about reimagining MedComms and, in particular, about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in MedComms: Past, Present and Future. Everyone's welcome. Please help spread the word. It's another webinar that lends itself to gathering your team around you and sharing out some cake. Use the opportunity to reflect on how you approach your own projects and how that might change in the coming months.
If you're not sure you can make it, sign up anyway and we will let you know as soon as the recording is available.
Wherever you look, there are plenty of discussions about AI impacting on our work.
Here's an article I saw last week that might be of interest to some of you. How ChatGPT and other AI tools could disrupt scientific publishing. A world of AI-assisted writing and reviewing might transform the nature of the scientific paper. Posted in Nature.
Coming back to tomorrow's webinar, obviously my opening question to Matt will be, "how on earth do you end up with a heady job title like that in MedComms?"... More importantly, Matt is closely involved in initiatives from the Healthcare Communications Association (HCA), the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) and the Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS) that are all aiming to provide formal guidance to their members, so he can update us on their status. Please join us.
The AI theme continues next week in Embracing the AI Era in Medical Writing. We will be joined by Alex Evans, a pharmacist, community pharmacy consultant, and medical writer with over 12 years of clinical practice experience in community, outpatient health system, long term care, and academic settings. And now, Prompt Engineer! We will learn about the rapid evolution of medical writing with the introduction of AI writers, and witness a live demonstration of how these tools can revolutionize healthcare communications.
However, life isn't only about AI. I'm delighted that Jayne Packham, an award-winning ABPI Code of Practice trainer, and well known to many of you, is returning on Wednesday 01 November to review recent cases and share her thoughts on current hot topics. With a review of the current ABPI Code of Practice imminent, this will be a timely opportunity to reflect on where we are and where we are heading. Please join us and encourage all relevant others to join us.
Stay well, everyone. There's lots more coming.
P.S. If you missed last week's webinar, Continuous Professional Development in MedComms - what, who, how?, then you can now watch the free recording at NetworkPharma.tv, along with hundreds more. Hear panellist Mike Dixon of the HCA explain how watching a #MedComms webinar, and reflecting on it, is one way to qualify for a CPD point if you follow their scheme. So views now means points! Find out more about MyCPD Healthcare and start recording your progress now!
Cheers
