Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. MedComms Networking - 12 September 2023

    Hi

Just two more weeks and it will be over! Registrations are building nicely for our next big careers event, Working in and around #MedComms, Heathrow, 25 September 2023, but we want more! It's free to attend for entry-level jobseekers, so please spread the word amongst all the wannabes you know, but why not join us yourself? And encourage your colleagues to join us. The more the merrier. Plenty of networking and learning opportunities for everyone. Good WiFi on-site and plenty of corners to sit in means work can continue throughout!

We're expecting hundreds to attend. Importantly, many more are accessing information online, about MedComms and about leading organisations and individuals in our community, by visiting the wealth of content that's now freely available at NetworkPharma.careers.

It would be great to see you there. Give me a shout, anytime, if you have questions.

If it's half as good as last year it will be great - and I'll still be recovering at Christmas! But between now and Christmas there is much more coming.

The weekly #MedComms webinars start again 04 October with a conversation with Carole Scrafton, Director and Co-Founder of Patient Advocacy Organisation and Online community support network, Flutters and Strutters, for people affected by chronic illnesses and rare disease. These regular informal conversations with the Patient Advocates are always thought-provoking. Please join us.

I'm also lining up more webinars about AI. We've come a long way in eight months since our somewhat spontaneous webinar in which we asked Should we take notice of ChatGPT and allied AI technologies in MedComms? I think it's probably a little quaint now, looking back at us talking excitedly about something we frankly didn't know anything about at the time! Hopefully, now everyone in MedComms has at least had a play with some of the new tools.

On 18 October I will be joined by Matt Lewis, Global Chief Artificial and Augmented Intelligence Officer at Inizio Medical. A great job title, but Matt's also got a great mission. He wants to encourage us to reimagine MedComms.

I'll follow that, on 25 October, with a practical and engaging session, when we will be joined by Alex Evans, a pharmacist, community pharmacy consultant, and medical writer with over 12 years of clinical practice experience in community, outpatient health system, long term care, and academic settings. And now, Prompt Engineer! Alex has agreed to come online and demonstrate his approach to using AI writing tools. Live. What could possibly go wrong? Join us to find out!

    There's much more.

It seems to me MedComms is in a very different place to just one year ago. What about another year hence? I'm thinking hard about my plans for MedComms Networking activity in 2024. I'd welcome comments and suggestions.

    Stay well, everyone.

P.S. we've one more FirstMedCommsJob webinar, tomorrow 13 September, highlighting topics and people you can learn more about at Heathrow. Join me and performance-io for Career opportunities in healthcare SEO: breaking the mould of traditional MedComms.

    Cheers
