MedComms Networking - 11 July 2023
Hi
Last week's extended #MedComms Webinar was interesting. We certainly covered a lot of ground. If you are freelancing or aspiring to do so, or maybe you commission freelancers, then there should have been plenty to interest you. Feedback and comment welcomed. The recordings are freely available at NetworkPharma.tv as follows...
MedComms Freelancing - your questions answered
We invited experienced freelancers Eleanor Steele (The MedComms Mentor) and Vicky Sherwood (Biomed Badass) to answer questions around key topics of interest for MedComms freelancers everywhere
The value of coaching, mentoring and peer support for MedComms freelancers
Charlotte Rooney (A Half Managed Mind) and Eleanor Steele (MedComms Mentor) demonstrated how support from a coach or mentor can help freelancers define their requirements and create a realistic plan to craft a business that will meet them.
The value of networking and specialist communities for MedComms Freelancers
We were joined by community leaders from across the globe. Lisa Baker (Freelancers in Pubs), Rebecca Tadokera (South African Medcomms Professionals Network) and Amanda Xiaoqing Mao (Asia Pacific MedComms Network) explained how their own networking groups came about and the activities they undertake.
EMWA's Freelance Medical Writers Business Survey 2023 report
In January 2023, the European Medical Writers Association's (EMWA) Freelance Business Group launched the 7th EMWA Freelance Business Survey (FBS), with the aim of analysing current trends in freelancing. In this webinar, Satyen Shenoy (Describe Scientific Writing & Communications), reviews the results of that survey and compares them with previously unpublished data from the 6th EMWA FBS to report changing behaviours in freelancing from 2018 to 2023.
For even more information, the new issue of the Medical Writing journal from European Medical Writers Association (EMWA) is all about freelancing. It's open access, so you can read the articles whether you are a member or not. Read the full issue here.
Meanwhile, my unrelenting run of weekly Wednesday #MedComms Webinars now stops until after our Summer. I'm now planning webinars for the Autumn. Volunteers welcomed!
If that leaves you wondering what to do tomorrow, take a look at what Word Monster are doing. MonsterComm – Showcasing Digital Innovation in Healthcare is taking place in their unique digital 2D world. They say, "it's going to be a blast!". Join them to find out. All being well, I'll be there to see how they get on. See you there.
Over the UK Summer time, I'll take a break from the regular stuff, the newsletters and the Wednesday webinars. But, all being well, we'll run a variety of online activities at random times to provide more information and insights into MedComms careers as we build up to our big new careers event at Heathrow, Working in and around #MedComms, 25 September 2023. Please join in. To ensure you know what's happening, please read and share our emails, follow #MedComms on your favourite social media platform and add your thoughts to the conversation. Or contact me directly any time. Details are being kept bang up-to-date at networkpharma.careers.
There's lots more coming. Stay well, everyone.
Cheers
