MedComms Networking is a not-for-profit initiative building on the work of Peter Llewellyn which seeks to unite individuals and organisations involved in delivering health information. We will do this by listening and by delivering a weekly newsletter and regular online and in-person events. Our group welcomes writers, scientists, editors, educators, project managers, filmmakers, medical journalists, healthcare professionals, researchers, academics, and patient advocates from around the world to join us. The aim is to inform, educate and advance our profession and, ultimately, support patient care.

    CAREERS WORKSHOP, 18-19 MAY 2015 - OXFORD

This was the eighth time we'd run this 2-day workshop with funding from Oxford University and the support of several leading MedComms agencies. Delegates with a genuine interest in joining the MedComms industry heard from a superb line up of speakers about the pharmaceutical industry, the role of MedComms agencies and the specifics about working as a medical writer and some of the activities they would expect to undertake. We were able to highlight related writing roles as well as other roles within the agencies such as Account Management.

    VENUE

The Careers Service, 56 Banbury Road, Oxford, OX2 6PA

The building is towards the bottom end of the Banbury Road, only a few minutes walk from St Giles and the city centre and within easy reach of the train station. It is easily accessible from the Water Eaton Park and Ride by busses which regularly travel up and down the Banbury Road. Please note there is no parking at the venue. Short-term metered parking is available nearby or city centre car parks are not far away.

"I found this course an excellent all-round introduction to Medical Writing that provided me with valuable insight, tips and advice - not to mention contacts! As a result of attending this course, I landed a job with a top Medical Communications agency in London and I can safely say that I am now in a job that is both challenging and interesting and, importantly, that I love."
