This will be our fourth one-day intensive MedComms careers workshop, which provides the opportunity for delegates with a genuine interest in joining the MedComms industry to get up close and personal with a number of leading employers. The format is designed to give delegates as much insight as possible into life in the different agencies and to be able to compare and contrast those working environments. This event is all about talking direct and in depth with the MedComms specialists about the practicalities of getting the first job and then of the working life in the agencies, so attendees are expected to have already made themselves familiar with the information provided online at

These agencies are looking for individuals with:

  • a genuine enthusiasm for science and its application to the world of medicine
  • the ability to work independently within a small-team environment.
  • You'll need a strong life sciences background and, if it is the medical writing that interests you then probably, though not necessarily, post-graduate qualifications. We're particularly interested in hearing from post-docs and DPhil/PhD students, but aptitude and relevant work experience count for a lot. Importantly this event will embrace both medical writing and account management pathways.

MedComms can literally take you all over the world and provides attractive long-term career pathways.

Please note, applications to attend this event can now be made.

There are a maximum 24 places. Attendance is free of charge and we expect and welcome attendees from outside Oxford University, though priority is given to their students and staff.

To apply for a place please email Peter Llewellyn using email with the following information:

  • Current position and clear contact details (email and phone and ideally a link to an online personal profile eg Linkedin page or web page)
  • A letter of application to include a short explanation as to why you would like to have a place on the course
  • A sample of your writing (for instance, summarising your research interest and objectives, or some relevant work experience. 150 words maximum).

Applicants should expect to be informed of the result of their application within 48 hours. Please feel free to contact us directly if you've heard nothing back in that time. Registration will be kept open until the the workshop is fully booked at which point it will be clearly stated so on this page.

If you've any questions at all then please email Peter Llewellyn directly.
