MedComms Networking is a not-for-profit initiative building on the work of Peter Llewellyn which seeks to unite individuals and organisations involved in delivering health information. We will do this by listening and by delivering a weekly newsletter and regular online and in-person events. Our group welcomes writers, scientists, editors, educators, project managers, filmmakers, medical journalists, healthcare professionals, researchers, academics, and patient advocates from around the world to join us. The aim is to inform, educate and advance our profession and, ultimately, support patient care.

    LUNCHTIME BRIEFING - 19 MAY 2009 - WILMSLOW

    GPP2: New Good Publication Practice

Good Publication Practice (GPP) is the first port-of-call for publication professionals looking for guidance about publishing clinical and preclinical information, especially when this information has been gathered, analysed, or written with pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device company support.

But consider this: the first ideas for GPP were formed during a retreat of the Council of Biology Editors (now Council of Science Editors or CSE) a decade ago. With all that has happened since, it's safe to say the time is right for GPP2: a new, revised version of Good Publication Practice.

GPP2 has been developed by a steering committee of International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) members, coordinated by Chris Graf. A very far-reaching consultation process has been undertaken and the results were presented for the first time in Philadelphia at the 5th Annual Meeting of ISMPP, 20-22 April 2009.

This Briefing meeting gave us the chance to hear about this important initiative directly from Chris Graf who led the consultation process, while it is still very hot news. A summary of his presentation, recorded in Oxford on 14 May, is provided below as a webcast from NetworkPharma.tv.
