    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 30 April 2024

    Hi

Let's start with a shout out to everyone at the Grand Hyatt in Washington today, at the 20th Annual Meeting of The International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP). They're celebrating their 20th Annual Meeting, so it's party time! Here's to another 20 years. Follow hashtag #ISMPPAnnual2024 for updates on your favourite social media platform.

Their theme is Storytelling: Its Art and Power. If the topic appeals, you can do worse than watch the recording of our last #MedComms webinar, The Power of Raw and Honest Storytelling in MedComms on NetworkPharma.tv.

Our new series of weekly #MedComms webinars starts tomorrow with The Power of Pro Bono in Medical Communications. Jennie Talman (Passion Partnership), Sarah Wynn (Unique) and Liz Southey (The Salve Health) will tell us how pro bono engagements benefit both clients and agencies, fostering creativity, employee engagement, and strategic growth. Everyone's welcome. Please join us. If you miss the live webinar the recordings are always then posted at NetworkPharma.tv. But it's much more fun to join us live!

Over the coming weeks, once again we will cover an eclectic mix of topics, including (but not only) some practical applications of AI. For instance, next week we'll hear about a series of studies hot off the press from this week's ISMPP meeting that demonstrate the time-, effort-, and quality-benefits of using AI to facilitate the generation of PLSs. Please gather your teams, share some cake and join us for some lively discussion.

Here's news of some other relevant upcoming activities I've spotted that might be also of interest to members of this community...

The Latest "Crisis" - Is the Research Literature Overrun with ChatGPT- and LLM-generated Articles? was posted last month by Scholarly Kitchen. It just so happens we've a related webinar on 22 May, when we'll talk about Ensuring Integrity in Scientific Publications in the face of AI.

The Patient Information Forum (PIF) published a Position Statement last week, Balancing the risks and benefits of AI in the production of health information. It was developed in collaboration with an expert working group and, again, it just so happens we have a related webinar coming up with PIF, Setting Standards in Healthcare Content Creation, on 29 May when we can hear more about their work.

IPG Health shared their thoughts on how Artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to transform Medical Communications in an article in pharmaphorum.

Sticking with the practical implementation of AI tools across the industry, did you see the news that OpenAI is expanding a partnership with Moderna for customizable GPTs? The pharma giant's employees will have access to ChatGPT Enterprise, which allows teams to create customized GPTs on specific topics.

Meanwhile, The PM Society and Word Monster have joined forces to elevate medical writing standards.

And the Copyright Clearance Center are running a free webinar for you all on 7 May, Copyright Basics for Medical Communications

Stay well, everyone. There's lots more coming. Hit the reply button and let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.

    Cheers
