    MedComms Networking - 29 June 2021

    Hi

I'm reliably informed that tomorrow, Wednesday 30 June, is World Social Media Day.

Follow hashtag #SocialMediaDay. Or #SocialMediaDay2021 or #worldsocialmediaday or #Social_Media_Day or... you see the problem?

I was asked my advice for anyone thinking about using social media, for a collection of short video clips that are being shared in-house by a #MedComms agency tomorrow.

I simply said; "don't think so much about it, join in and see what happens...". And I stressed the importance of clustering around one hashtag like, say, #MedComms to amplify the conversation and help us all follow the conversation more easily.

(OK, I said nothing clever! Must try harder, Peter.)

When I ran the annual #MedComms Day, the one thing I was entirely consistent about was that we should all use hashtag #MedComms.

But all sorts of variations appeared on the day. The only one I missed this year, now I think about it, was #MedCommsPets. What happened to everyone's pets this year?

Anyway, suffice to say, I think we should all keep trying to get to grips with the various social media platforms and tomorrow provides another good excuse to play. So, jump in and use #MedComms and who knows what will appear. Hopefully something other than just more Job Ads!

For last week's webinar, I was joined by Sarah Diffen and Alex Monaghan of Within3 and Michelle Marchione of AstraZeneca. We talked about virtual engagement strategies for medical affairs teams to maximize their engagement with physicians, patients, and other care team members. None of us can see us returning to the "old days", whatever that means, nor face-to-face meetings being lost for ever, but that little word "hybrid" that we keep attaching to other words like "events" seems disarmingly simplistic to me. There's plenty of practical details to consider. Watch the video here.

Tomorrow we'll hear from Julieann Tate, James Hadfield and Sally Cordon-Painter about how growth has been, and continues to be, at the heart of life at Lucid Group. Please join us.

And we've squeezed an EXTRA webinar in this week, with McCann Health Medical Communications sharing the experiences of their first FuEL participants on Thursday. Everyone's welcome.

Importantly, though, make a note of a new event next month. I'm delighted to confirm our MedComms Forum on 21 July is Veeva for MedComms agencies - a deep dive.

We'll run this next MedComms Forum as an extended webinar again, so audience members can come and go if needed and we'll record the sessions and post them afterwards on NetworkPharma.tv as usual for those who can't make it. But I'm hoping for a useful audience on the day and plenty of contributions from them. If anything, we're aiming to raise questions that need answering rather than necessarily answering all the questions there and then. The idea being that Veeva follow this with additional specialist educational activities.

Please spread the word and encourage all relevant others to join us.

Stay well. There's lots more coming.

    Cheers
