MedComms Networking - 25 October 2022
Hi
Good business is everyone's responsibility. Can MedComms do better? In last week's webinar, we heard from Elena Mills and Liz Southey (Co-founders, The Salve) and Jo Spadaccino (Co-founder, Stirred) about their (Pending) B Corporation journeys. We talked about the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) movement and specifically how B Corp is a global movement
of businesses supporting each other to improve and drive global change. It's about much more than planting trees to offset "unavoidable" travel. It was interesting to hear how and why they are embedding ESG principles into the hearts of their new businesses, but also about how we are fast reaching a point where such working practices will likely become mandatory for all businesses.
Watch the recording at NetworkPharma.tv. Feedback and comment welcomed.
This week is Open Access week 2022 and their theme is "Open for Climate Justice". We aren't directly addressing that tomorrow in our free weekly #MedComms webinar, but how much information about medicines has been published, and then kept out of reach of the people they most affect? Our webinar tomorrow addresses Patient centricity in scientific publications: what is it and will GPP 2022 help us achieve it?.
With more and more pharmaceutical companies putting patient centricity at the forefront of drug development, the role of the patient in clinical research has undergone huge transformation in recent years. But how far have we come in terms of ensuring the accessibility - to patients - of the information this research generates, and will GPP 2022 help us make more progress towards meeting the information needs of today's patients? In this webinar we will be joined by Jamil Rivers, METAvivor Research & Support, Jenny Ghith, Senior Director, Omnichannel Strategy and Innovation Lead, Global Scientific Communications at Pfizer, Caroline Shepherd, Portfolio Director and Helena Williams, Head of Medical Services at CMC Connect to answer these questions, from both the industry and the patient perspective, and invite participants to contribute their own thoughts and questions on this topic. Everyone can join us, as always.
On a related note, these upcoming events might also be of interest...
The upcoming EMWA Mini Symposium, 4 November, (attend online or onsite) focuses on practices and perspectives of plain language summaries. Find out more here.
Jonathan Patience and Kelly Soldavin from Taylor & Francis are sharing their experiences in a free webinar, Extending Research Reach in Medical Publications: The Impact of Plain Language Summaries on Research Accessibility & Engagement on 2 December. Find out more here.
And, on a different note...
Next week's #MedComms webinar features the specialists from Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) in the USA talking about Navigating Copyright in Medical Communications. I don't meet many people in MedComms who genuinely get excited about spending time on niceties and details of global copyright licenses, rules and regulations, but it's probably fair to say we all need an understanding and to know where to go for help. Please join us (and tell your friends)
There's lots more variety coming. Stay well, everyone.
Cheers
