    MedComms Networking - 22 February 2022

    Hi

A quick, early newsletter today. Lots to do. Mostly personal stuff. These days I'm finding "stuff" has an annoying habit of getting in the way of working life! Thanks goodness for technology and the ability to work ultra-flexibly in and around MedComms!

It's been interesting to see MedComms evolve over recent years and to see the business boom - and interest from investors soar. In November 2021, James West, Director, Pharma Services M&A at Lincoln International published an Opinion article in PR Week arguing that 2021 will be known as the year MedComms M&A Went Into Overdrive.

And there's likely to be plenty more this year.

Here are a few headlines from the last few months that I grabbed off our news page.

  • Prime Global acquires HCD Economics, creating an innovative evidence-generating, HEOR, value & communications group
  • Fishawack Health welcomes expert-led dermatology initiative FIDE to its group
  • Resonant Group Acquires PR Business
  • Bioscript completes first two acquisitions since being backed by private equity firm
  • Lucid Group acquires US-based strategic brand consultants DiD

James has agreed to join our #MedComms webinar next week, along with industry veterans, Charlie Buckwell, Chief Medical Communications Officer, IPG Health and Richard Evans, Founding Director at NexGen Healthcare Communications to reflect on how MedComms has changed, what the future offers and to ask is the MedComms marketplace ripe for investment?

I'm not allowed to have favourite webinars. They're all great! If I was allowed, next week's might qualify. It should prove a fascinating, insightful conversation. And not just for those running businesses and wondering what the returns might be. It won't surprise anyone to know the panel all believe MedComms has an exciting future and investment from outside is welcome, but what about ensuring investment from the inside, in our people? This business isn't just about chasing profit margins for private equity firms - hopefully.

Join us next Wednesday. Spread the word. Everyone's welcome.

Meanwhile last week the team from Bioscript provided a valuable introduction to working in regulatory medical writing - watch the recording on NetworkPharma.tv - and tomorrow's webinar should be interesting for everyone. And a useful reminder this is a global business community that technology can help bring together. I'll be joined by representatives from AMICULUM's regional teams from the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) and Asia to provide an overview of key developments in the healthcare industry in the regions and how these feed into medical communications needs/agency support. It's free as always. Please join us. And bring your colleagues, wherever in the world they are.

Finally some random news items to distract you over your next cup of coffee...

    Cheers
