MedComms Networking - 21 September 2021
Hi
Thanks to Katie Buxton, Andrea Cole, Rebecca Douglas and Neil Marmont from Ashfield Health for joining last week's #MedComms webinar to talk about their allegro.WRITE and allegro.EXCEL: accelerated training for Associate and Senior Medical Writers. Watch the recording here at NetworkPharma.tv whenever you like.
It's worth applauding how many agencies in MedComms have been seriously addressing the training and development of their staff over recent years. At all levels. It's been a clear sign of how this community has matured.
Frankly, though, it's also clearly a reflection of how competitive it is to attract and retain staff in what is proving to be a boom time for MedComms. And there's lots of money being invested in the business now. These are just some of the recent deals that I've seen announced this year.

So, MedComms constantly needs more new talent. I do what I can to attract interest via our FirstMedCommsJob services, which are freely accessible to all. Hopefully you all help share those resources widely. It helps everyone. And, please, if you ever do anything for the wannabes let me know. I'll happily help spread the word for you. Open Days. Work experience. Internships. It is noteworthy that more and more agencies are now running their own online careers events of various shapes and sizes.
Today and tomorrow, for instance, Oxford PharmaGenesis are running their online Career Discovery Days. You can still sign up here.
I confess I can happily do without the hassle of some F2F events I used to be involved in, but I truly miss the careers events. You can't really replicate online the opportunity for that spark of unexpected personal chemistry between individuals that is so useful in growing teams.
Maybe soon.
Meanwhile, hopefully many of you will join us for tomorrow's #MedComms Webinar, Involving the patient from protocol to publication in real-world evidence studies. Read more details here.
And next week, we'll review the key findings from our working practice survey to assess the impact of COVID-19 on current and future patterns, that ran in July-August 2021. Will lessons learned during the pandemic be translated into new working paradigms? Read more details here.
One final request for today. Priti Nagda, Senior Editor (Medicine and Health) at Taylor and Francis Group has asked that we help with a new survey about preprints and the publishing landscape. Please complete the survey here before 1 October.
There's lots more coming. Go #MedComms!
Cheers
