MedComms Networking - 18 May 2021
Hi
The idea on 9 June 2021 aka #MedComms Day is you do your own thing. And we all shout "#MedComms" together!
The Healthcare Communications Association (HCA) are staging an event. A good one. At Putting Trust to the Test you'll hear the 2021 health sector results of the Edelman Trust Barometer - the largest, annual, global survey of trust in the world, looking at a year which has been like no other in our lifetimes. Edelman Global Managing Director and EMEA Health Practice Chair Carolyn Paul will present this year's results and a robust panel will discuss the business and communication impacts for people working in the health industry. Sign up here.
I'm hearing rumours of other plans being hatched. Do share.
For nine years this has been a nerve-racking time, as I try to encourage interest in celebrating a day in the life of #MedComms without knowing what might happen. But for nine years, plenty of people across the global community have appeared on the day, dusting off neglected LinkedIn accounts, Twitter accounts and others, using hashtag #MedComms to make some noise. There's no overall plan. All sorts of people working in and around MedComms get involved in different ways. And do their own thing. Much of the activity won't be reported on formally, though social media will be awash with comments and we'll collect contributions at MedCommsDay.com.
If nothing else, wherever in the world you are on 9 June, wake up and type "Happy #MedComms Day" into your LinkedIn status bar. You might be surprised how fast a hashtag can be amplified.
This year, we've formal support from the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA), the Australasian Medical Writers Association (AMWA), the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA), HealthEconomics.Com, the Healthcare Communications Association (HCA), the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals and The Publication Plan. I'm sure we'll get additional informal support from others when they wake on 9 June and see what's happening. My thanks to everyone who joins in.
I'll run several free events spanning the time zones, including informal morning coffee meetings in Aukland and in San Francisco time zones. Join me.
Meanwhile - two small requests. Neither will take long. Do both during your next coffee break. Help spread the word.
The 4th annual Salary and Workforce Insight survey closes next week on 25 May. We're close to 500 responses. We want more, please. The results will be presented at our #MedComms webinar on 16 June. There's nothing else quite like this data in the public domain.
In next week's Webinar, 26 May, we return to the important topic of extending the reach of medical publications and digital enhancements in practice with Patricia Fonseca. Please find 10 minutes to complete Patricia's survey here, and help inform that discussion. Joining Patricia, we've a panel of freelance specialists Sarah Feeny, Iain O'Neill and Kelly Schrank. Join us. But first, fill in the survey!
We're talking about medics in MedComms tomorrow and there's lots more coming...
Cheers
