WEEKLY COMMENT
Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. MedComms Networking - 18 January 2022
Hi
The 15th birthday celebrations for MedComms Networking are still a tad muted. I was hoping for more! I'm having fun, anyway, but join in if you have time. It's useful for everyone if we simply make more noise about our specialist business, so follow hashtag #MedComms on your favourite social media platform.
Last week I dug around the archives and posted a cheesy "early days" video, with appropriately cheesy sound effects! Spot the (younger) faces and play "where are they now?". Tag them here and share your own pictures if you have them.
I've got more in the archives to share, though not as much as I hoped.
By the way, if anyone comes up with a suitable MedComms dance, I'll happily join in on TikTok, but so far I've failed to find suitable inspiration!
I am delighted, though, to have more #MedComms stories to share.
Say hi to Caroline Halford, Digital Publishing Manager, Adis, Springer Healthcare.
And to Catherine Lee, Senior Portfolio Director, Scientific at Alligent Europe.
A bunch of other folks have downloaded the Storyvine App, but not yet recorded their story. And a whole bunch more say they will, but haven't yet. So, I remain hopeful that more stories will appear soon. Give me a shout if you want to join in or simply register for the Storyvine App here and follow instructions. It's remarkably quick and simple.
You can see the collection of stories growing on NetworkPharma.tv.
Meanwhile, and importantly, yesterday we published the 5th edition of our careers guide, The business of medical communications: a guide to getting started in account management, by Lindsey Heer. Our guides have helped many wannabes looking for entry-level jobs, but it's time to move on. So, the 2022 editions will be the legacy copies. You'll always find them on FirstMedCommsJob.com, though.
If you offer any opportunities to entry-level candidates then do let me help pass the word along. And if you know any wannabes point them at FirstMedCommsJob.com. For instance, we heard about the launch of the new LINK 360 entry-level training programme from LINK Health Group before Christmas. Note the closing date for their first applications is 31 January 2022, so watch the recording of our webinar for more details, or visit their website or email link360@linkhealthgroup.com for more information.
Finally today, a reminder that our weekly #MedComms webinars start again next month. Every Wednesday through into the Summer if I can find the stamina.
First up, Len Starnes leads our discussion on 2 February, Medical Society Conferences: What we learnt in 2021, what might happen in 2022. Everyone's welcome.
On that note, I was intrigued to read this article this morning in Endpoints News, Twitter aims to bring medical conferences - and ad sponsors - from 'inside 4 walls and 3 days' to digital future.
Any thoughts, anyone? Join in the discussion.
There's lots more coming, but meanwhile, I know you've all got a #MedComms story to tell. Download the Storyvine App now and simply follow the instructions.
Cheers
