WEEKLY COMMENT
Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. MedComms Networking - 15 November 2022
Hi
If you're one of hundreds who attended last week's unique new in-person event, Working in and around #MedComms at Heathrow - thank you! Delegates, exhibitors and speakers, you made it such a memorable event. And many of you struggled with travel disruption and more to get there.
The feedback shows a wide variety of individual experiences. Whilst overwhelmingly positive overall - if nothing else we all had a good time - I know we need to think about some details, whilst accepting that nothing we do will ever suit everyone! It wasn't a bad first attempt, though, at doing something different.
One objective was simply to make more noise generally about #MedComms and the career opportunities it offers. We certainly achieved that and it helps everyone. If you haven't already seen them, browse through the many online comments using hashtag #MedComms, particularly on LinkedIn, and join in. Help make more #MedComms noise.
Bear with us while I tidy the content at NetworkPharma.careers. That's now a valuable free online resource for anyone looking for information about what we do. And it's supported by the wealth of free content at FirstMedCommsJob.com and NetworkPharma.tv.
Will we do it again? What else might we do to build on it? And how? I'm gathering my breath for now, but watch this space. Any feedback and ideas are welcome.
Meanwhile, I also managed to squeeze in our weekly Wednesday #MedComms webinar last week. Caroline Halford from Springer Healthcare, Niamh Clarke from Adis, and Catherine Elliott and Simon Stones from Envision Pharma Group shared their experience of creating plain language podcasts and the potential for using these types of initiative to make scientific information more impactful, and more accessible to a wider audience. Watch the recording here on NetworkPharma.tv. Gather your team, share cake, and use it as a catalyst to talk amongst yourselves about how you can develop your own ideas for making information more accessible. Podcasting is just one idea, but this was a nice presentation of what's possible.
Tomorrow we will talk about building solutions and skills to design digital-first medical events with Pierre Metrailler, SpotMe's CEO and one of the life science events industry leaders. Join us. Everyone's welcome.
And next week I look forward to a slightly different, but very relevant topic. Do you want your web content to be seen? Why MedComms must utilise SEO. We'll be joined by Tom Harrison (Medical Copy Lead), Isla MacAskill (SEO Content Coordinator) and Siobhan Robertson (Head of SEO) from performance-io, the only pure play specialist SEO agency in healthcare and pharma. Join us. Everyone's welcome.
Finally, a brief mention that I'm taking a rest from Twitter. I confess I'm disillusioned. As a community we've really never embraced it the way I thought we could. So, stay in touch, but follow me on LinkedIn. And you might like to read this article, which resonated with me at least; The Age of Social Media Is Ending. Your thoughts?
There's lots more coming. Stay well, everyone.
Cheers
