    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 14 June 2022

    Hi

In tomorrow's free #MedComms webinar, Wednesday 15 June, Pin Lu, Manca Povsic and Claire Woon from AMICULUM Access will provide an introduction to market access and health economics. Our panel will discuss the role of market access within the healthcare industry, highlighting key similarities and differences from other areas of medical communications. Everyone's welcome, as always, but this one should be of particular interest to the #MedComms wannabes. Please spread the word.

Importantly, last week we published the new edition of our careers guide, Evidence generation and communication: a guide to getting started in HEOR/market access medical writing, by Linda Harrison. This guide focuses on medical writing roles in the HEOR/market access arenas, but it will be of interest to anyone who wants to understand more about the business of ensuring access to new medicines and devices for patients. It includes ten personal profiles written by current specialists in leading HEOR/market access companies, describing their personal journeys and the day-to-day work they now do. Kudos to all who participated and supported the publication.

I know our FirstMedCommsJob guides have helped many wannabes looking for entry-level jobs, but it's time to move on from the current format. So, the 2022 editions will be the legacy copies and you'll always find them on FirstMedCommsJob.com. They will all have been updated in time for our big new #MedComms Careers event at Heathrow, 19 September.

At that careers event we'll use our guides as the basis for a series of lively panel discussions through the day. The agenda is coming together nicely now, with masterclasses and workshops adding to the value of attending on the day. We've already got plenty of leading employers coming along and more are on their way. It's going to be a long day, but it will be packed with a myriad of opportunities for anyone who is interested in joining our business to chat with experienced staff and to gain insights, for instance, into the various entry-level programmes. Please do encourage all relevant others to join us and help us shout about it using hashtag #MedComms as always.

And please join us, yourselves. Everyone's welcome. That event is going to be quite unlike anything we've seen before in our sector. It'll be fun for all!

Meanwhile, last week's webinar was excellent. Do take the time to watch the recording of "Writing for Patients: Who, What, Where, When, Why and How?" at NetworkPharma.tv. There are some good practical tips in there for everyone.

Next week, though, there's no webinar from me. It's #MedComms Day 2022 on 22 June and, for instance, AMICULUM, Langland and Oxford PharmaGenesis are running a virtual event, Illuminate #MedComms, at midday UK time. There's plenty more happening. If you're freelancing, or aspiring to do so, you can join me for a now traditional #MedComms Day Workbook Huddle, online at 18.00 (wine o'clock) UK time for a chat and to raise a celebratory glass together. Non-subscribers welcome. All together now, "Happy #MedComms Day, everyone!"

    Stay well, everyone.

    Cheers
