    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 13 July 2021

    Hi

    So, "how you doin?".

I've worked hard over many years, but this year is easily one of the toughest. I'm tired as heck. Maybe just too old. But I think it's more than that. There's lots happening - much of it outside of my control. Why am I still chasing a well-known medcomms agency to pay their (largish) invoice from March? Will this aged computer please keep going just a little longer until we both take a rest in August? Will we, in fact, get that rest? There's pandemic craziness all around me and uncertainty about the simplest of plans. Oh, and on the home front... well, never mind.

All of which sounds a tad contrived - and maybe over-sharing - but I'm not sharing the half of it! I've no line-manager for a weekly catch-up call nor an employer sending me chocolates and a witty card to encourage me to "keep smiling" that I can share on LinkedIn. If I did, would it really help?

When does good pressure become bad pressure?

In tomorrow's #MedComms webinar, Paul Hutchings, Kathy Chillistone and Paul Phillips will talk about how we deal with pressure. And the approaches we can take - as individuals and organisations - to better harness it and avoid meltdowns. Please join us, if only to see me cracking up!

Assuming I keep going a little longer, we'll try something different on Thursday when several representatives from Helios have volunteered to come back online and discuss six frequently asked questions from entry-level job seekers, to kick off a new series of #MedComms Essentials. Each question will be addressed individually. Separate recordings will be posted afterwards at NetworkPharma.tv. Everyone's welcome - find out more here.

This follows our regular webinar last week when we heard about how Helios combine writing and project management in a hybrid role in MedComms. Watch that recording here.

Next week, we end the current series with what should be an interesting session. We'll run the MedComms Forum on Wednesday 21 July as an extended webinar and explore Veeva for MedComms agencies. Please join the growing crowd, ask your questions of the experts and share your own experiences of the PromoMats and MedComms platforms. Everyone's welcome.

So, anyway, I'll ask again. How are you really feeling?

Please complete our new survey... Working practice: Assessing the impact of COVID-19 on current and future patterns

A little over a year ago, we ran a fascinating survey to explore how everyone was finding working at home, as lockdowns started, and achieved a fantastic result with more than 750 respondents. You can see the recording of the webinar here, you can read the summary report here and importantly you can download the full, peer-reviewed publication here.

Please spread the word and encourage relevant others to participate. Once again, we'll share the data freely afterwards to help everyone think about new - and not-so-new - working practices. Closing date is 13 August. Complete the survey here. Thank you.

    Stay well, everyone.

    Cheers
