MedComms Networking - 09 March 2021
Hi
Our weekly #MedComms Webinars are going well. We've heard from some excellent panellists about a range of relevant topics, including last week's Getting MedComms right: navigating the age of the amateur expert with Langland. My thanks to Annette Keith (Head of Editorial), Drew Owen (Chief Scientific Officer) and Diane Ross (Head of Scientific Strategy) for their thoughtful reflections on the pitfalls of healthcare communication.
You'll find all the recordings are made freely available, as quickly as possible after the webinars, at NetworkPharma.tv and in the MedComms YouTube channel. My advice? Arrange team meetings. Stream and share the videos. Use them as the basis for discussions about how your own activities might work out this year. If you have questions, reach out to the panellists directly. They'd love to hear from you.
This week, on Wednesday 10 March, we'll hear about Value Communication in Pharma: What medical communications professionals need to know with Patti Peeples, Founder and CEO of HealthEconomics. Com. Patti will be joined for the panel discussion by Tom Drake, Director and Founder of Global Outcomes Group and also Robert Matheis, President and Chief Executive Officer, International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP). Importantly they'll discuss results from the 2nd global Value Communication Survey, which is running now.
Please take 10 minutes to fill in the survey and encourage all relevant others to do so.
And register for this week's webinar on 10 March here.
Then, next week, we'll hear about Fishawack Health's Supporting Training and Enhancing Professional Skills (STEPS) initiative, which provides their employees with bespoke and targeted training and coaching throughout their professional careers. I'll be joined by Robert Bloxham (Medical Writer), Susan Brackenridge (Scientific Services Training Director), Anne Errichelli (Senior Medical Writer), Diane Sutherland (Group Professional Development Director) and, hopefully, a lively audience! Everyone's welcome. Please tell everyone. Register for the webinar on 17 March here.
In other news, Synergy Vision became employee-owned last week!
We all like to say this specialist business is all about the people who work in it, so it's good to sometimes see tangible evidence of how that can be turned into action. Better training helps. A share in the business helps. These days I see plenty of photos of gifts from grateful agency staff displayed on LinkedIn and there'll be lots more as Easter approaches. We all like chocolate.
What else do we like?
Here's an Opinion Piece from The Guardian this week, "Homeworking sounds good - until your job takes over your life". Your thoughts?
Meanwhile, we've just 4 weeks before the implementation of long-awaited IR35 tax changes in the UK for many companies and their freelancers to grapple with. Some of you might attend a free webinar on Thursday from the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed (IPSE), IR35 in April 2021: Interactive Question and Answers. Some of you don't believe it affects you. Time will tell.
There's lots more coming. Enjoy. Give me a shout at any time if you've any questions, comments or suggestions.
Cheers
Peter Llewellyn
