WEEKLY COMMENT
Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. MedComms Networking - 07 September 2021
Hi
So, how was your August? I took a breather. Of sorts. Did anyone notice? Frankly, I'm not feeling very rested. But no newsletters or webinars for a month was a result! They say change is as good as rest.
Let's start how we mean to go on. Busy, busy, busy. The new edition of our annual #MedComms careers guide, "A writer's role in drug development: a guide to getting started in regulatory medical writing", was published today and is freely available along with the others in the series at FirstMedCommsJob.com. Many thanks to Insight Medical Writing for supporting us again.
There's still plenty of silliness and uncertainty all around us. Have we settled into a new normal yet? Not as far as I can see. Lots of debate about working practices and if you're working on F2F events over the coming months - well, good luck!
"But it's all about hybrid now, Peter." Sure. An attractively short and simple label, useful for all sorts of applications. But what does it mean in practice? And how are the finances looking?
Many people I talk to desperately want to fly away on holiday, go down the pub, go shopping with friends - but really don't want to go back to offices. Others are desperate to return. How are these hybrid working practices going to work out in reality? Employers are working hard to reassure employees they can work how they want, when they want. "Presenteeism" is so last year. But absolute flexibility surely brings problems. You can't keep all the people happy all the time...
Meanwhile is The Great Resignation really "a thing"? Try these...

We passed 900 responses to our own #MedComms working practices survey a few weeks ago. The data is thought-provoking. Join us at the #MedComms webinar on 29 September to hear Tim Hardman and Steven Walker talk through the results and answer questions about assessing the impact of COVID-19 on current and future patterns.
So, the weekly webinars are starting again! Can I make it through to Christmas this time?
Next week Ashfield Health talk about their allegro.WRITE and allegro.EXCEL: accelerated training for Associate and Senior Medical Writers and the week after we've a fascinating presentation from Vitaccess about the lifecycle of creating collaborative digital patient registries and taking them through to the publications.
There's plenty more coming. Details are always bang up-to-date at www.MedCommsNetworking.com. Everyone's welcome. Please encourage all relevant others to join us. Maybe gather your teams together for cake and discussion. Assuming you can get them all in the same place at the same time, in real or virtual terms!
If not, recordings are freely available for anyone, anytime at NetworkPharma.tv.
Stay well, everyone. And, please, look out for each other.
Cheers
