MedComms Networking - 01 November 2022
Hi
I love the range of topics we cover in the weekly #MedComms webinars. The fact I can make them easily and freely accessible to anyone, anywhere, still impresses the heck out of me. We see wildly differing numbers of registrations, and it's completely unpredictable how many turn up. But the point remains, it IS that simple to do something useful for lots of people.
The devil, as always, is in the detail. There is indeed work to be done behind the scenes and sometimes quite a lot of it. Of course, it can all be done better. Someone has just asked if tomorrow's webinar will be accompanied by subtitles for the hard of hearing. The truth is no, but of course I should be investigating these options more avidly. My excuse is there is a limit to quite how much I can do alone, but I know that's not good enough. So watch this space and keep the feedback coming.
Last week's webinar addressed making information accessible to all. With more and more pharmaceutical companies putting patient centricity at the forefront of drug development, the role of the patient in clinical research has undergone huge transformation in recent years. But how far have we come in terms of ensuring the accessibility - to patients - of the information this research generates, and will GPP 2022 help us make more progress towards meeting the information needs of today's patients? I was joined by Jamil Rivers (METAvivor Research & Support), Jenny Ghith (Pfizer), Caroline Shepherd (CMC Connect) and Helena Williams (CMC Connect) to answer these questions, from both the industry and the patient perspective. Hopefully you'll find the recording worth watching.
Next week, we'll explore one specific opportunity to open up scientific communications for broader audiences in Illuminating science for patients and healthcare professionals through plain language podcasts. I'll be joined by Caroline Halford from Springer Healthcare, Niamh Clarke from Adis, and Catherine Elliott and Simon Stones from Envision Pharma Group to hear about their specialist experiences. Please join us.
Meanwhile, tomorrow we talk about Navigating Copyright in Medical Communications with Chloe Duchesne, Brian Goode and Aaron Reid from CCC (Copyright Clearance Center) and we've almost 300 people signed up to attend, which makes it one of our most popular webinars ever. There's no limit, the more the merrier, so do join us. And tell all relevant others. Gather your teams and share some cake and watch together. I wonder how many will turn up?
Nothing, though, beats getting together in real life. Next week we are reckoning on about 400 of us gathering at Heathrow to talk about Working in and around #MedComms. There's simply never been anything like it before in our sector. Please keep spreading the word. Encourage any wannabes to join us. Hey, why not join us yourself? Programme details and registration are at NetworkPharma.careers - it's going to be bonkers! But also very, very useful for lots of people.
There's lots more coming. Stay well, everyone.
Cheers
