    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. MedComms Networking - 30 August 2016

    Hi

First, a huge "shout out" to NexGen Healthcare Communications, our newest Sponsors of MedComms Networking. Thanks, Guys! They join an illustrious group of leading agencies providing support and guidance. As I always say, "none of all this could happen without them."

On 19 September representatives from (hopefully) all the sponsoring agencies will gather in Oxford. We'll be joined by a couple of guests from Roche to talk about developments across the MedComms and Pharma industries, Professor Joanna Verran from Manchester Metropolitan University will talk about her new MSc is Science Communications (which uniquely includes a module specifically focused on MedComms) and Adrian Brown will review the MedComms Landscape training that starts in October for new staff in MedComms. So once again it should be a lively occasion and will generate lots more ideas for the general MedComms Networking activity. If you've any ideas for future activities do let me know.

September is certainly going to be busy. The Freelancers who subscribe to the MedComms Workbook are meeting on 21 September for another of our regular, unique, workshops, Making a success of freelancing in MedComms. Note there are only a few places left now. Once again we'll have our Client Panel Question and Answer session so if you work with freelancers and would like to join us then let me know. So far we have Peter Jones from OUP and Jon Morton from Comradis and ideally we'd like one or even two more.

Before that we have what looks like being our biggest Careers event in Manchester to date coming up on 14 September. We've still space for more delegates, though, so do tell anyone you know who's thinking about a career in MedComms anytime now or in the future. Everyone is welcome. The more the merrier. My thanks to everyone who'll be participating in that. These events really are very well proven now, supported as they are by the information services at FirstMedCommsJob.com.

But even before that, next week, we have our next MedComms Brunch Club event when the theme is "Medical education - we do the medical bit, but what about the education part?". The four presentations are being given by Eugene Pozniak of European CME Forum along with Celeste Kolanko, Marian East and Sophie Wilson who are all members of the Good CME Practice Group. We'll be talking about medical education in all its guises and, all being well, then adding another four webcasts to our growing collection at NetworkPharma.tv. As usual I'd love to have a small audience with us on the day so ping me an email now if you'd like to join us and yes, lunch is on me again!

Meanwhile my hunt is still continuing for videos showing insights into life in MedComms and specifically into individual organisations. This week I found a recent one from Ashfield Healthcare Communications, The Ashfield Way, which has now been added to the resources at FirstMedCommsJob.com. There must be more. let me know.

    Enjoy your week, everyone.

    Cheers
