    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 28 February 2017

    Hi

We've almost 300 responses to our MedComms Barometer 2017. Not yet quite as impressive as last year's closing total of 374 but we've a few hours to go, so we could still do it. I'll close the survey in the early hours of tomorrow morning, my time, to give everyone, all the way across to the West Coast of the USA, a chance. Let's at least beat 300 - please.

[PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE SURVEY HERE]

The results will be made freely available to all on our Surveys Page later this week.

So what are you up to this week? I'm sure you're busy - aren't we all - but why not join us at one or both of these meetings here in Oxford?

Tomorrow, Wednesday 1 March, we've another Brunch Meeting. We'll hear from Caroline Halford of Adis and also Jayne Packham of Jayne Packham Consultancy. Jayne is talking about the ABPI code and also about writing for patients and the public. These Brunch Meetings are always excellent and as always we'd welcome a small audience to join us while we're filming, but please ping me an email to let me know you're coming. Watch out for the webcasts coming soon at NetworkPharma.tv and all freely accessible for everyone.

Then on Thursday a group of us are meeting for a Lunch and Learn event to talk about the use of technology to optimise audience engagement at industry events and hear about some ideas from outside of Pharma. We can still squeeze a couple more in if you drop me a line now. It's the first of four such Lunch and Learn events in March, supported by Concise. If you can't make Oxford then try New York, Macclesfield or San Francisco. Please pass word on to colleagues in the USA.

Meanwhile it's that time of year when we have to run very fast in order to publish the new MedComms careers guide before the end of March. We've a record-breaking number of agencies joining in this year and the new Ads are coming in rapidly now. Many thanks to you all. The careers guide and indeed all the resources at FirstMedCommsJob.com provide a hugely valuable service to the wannabes.

Our next careers event, by the way, will be another FirstMedCommsJob: Meet the Agencies Day on 22 May in Oxford. Applications are coming in quickly now, and they look superb. If you know anyone who is looking for a job in MedComms in the near future do let them know.

And if you're working as a freelancer or thinking about doing so, have you seen we've opened up our next workshop on 22 March in Macclesfield, to everyone? Join us. You might be surprised how much you can learn from the group there.

And here's a shout out for another new event - AMICULUM will be hosting an afternoon on 11 May in Richmond when we'll talk about Scientific storytelling and audience engagement. Please join us.

    Enjoy your week. Stay busy...

    Cheers
