    MedComms Networking - 23 August 2016

    Hi

My hunt is continuing for videos showing insights into life in MedComms and specifically into individual organisations. I've found two more videos, which have been added to the resources at FirstMedCommsJob.com; so here you have Lucid Culture and here's Adelphi Communications to enjoy during your next tea break. There must be more, though, surely? I have it on good authority that a couple of MedComms agencies have what they describe as "excellent" corporate videos, which they show potential new recruits, but that their legal departments won't let them post publicly.... erm, OK. More interestingly I was assured by an agency a few days ago that they're currently working on a new video specifically aimed at wannabe MedComms specialists, which will shortly be made freely available. That's more like it. Let me know if your agency has its own video(s), or if you know of any others I don't know about from elsewhere.

Back in 2011, I offered to send a bottle of champagne to individuals who posted their own videos describing life in MedComms. We only had a couple; very contrasting videos but both useful. One from Nigel Eastmond and another from Ken Sutor. Maybe it's time to try again? I'll happily send the champagne. All you need do is post a useful video to share. Let me know.

Meanwhile, I'm mildly intrigued by the numbers of viewings of the webcast videos we produced earlier this month with Comradis, Darwin and Seven Point Four. They're currently neck and neck and jostling for first place. Maybe we should hold a sweepstake for our agency webcast with the most views by Christmas time? Just think what might happen if everyone at each agency tweeted and updated their Linkedin profile saying "come and learn about working with us in #MedComms here..." Go on, guys, do it now and make a proper race of it.

Any noise we can make about the great career opportunities in MedComms is useful for everyone. Still the most common complaint I hear from MedComms agencies is "we can't find enough new experienced staff"! So we have to grow our own and hopefully the various activities we manage and encourage around FirstMedCommsJob.com are helping towards that end. Our next Careers event is in Manchester on 14 September and it's looking like being the biggest we've held in that region with delegates coming from all around the UK, not just the North West, and even from other European countries. We've still room for more so please tell your own contacts. It's free for delegates to attend, I just need an email from them asking to sign up. These events are well proven now.

Oh, and Ashfield Healthcare Communications have just announced another Assessment Day on 5 September. Apparently they offered 9 jobs following their last one! This is all good news for the overall business so if you're thinking of running your own Open Day please let me know so I can help share the news.

    Enjoy your week, everyone.

    Cheers
