    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 22 March 2016

    Hi

I'm writing this quickly before today's workshop here in London, Making a success of freelancing in MedComms for subscribers to the MedComms Workbook service, which is growing nicely now. I've certainly sent out some interesting work opportunities in the past few weeks and these regular workshops provide a valuable opportunity for learning, networking and business development. So, if you're joining us today I look forward to seeing you shortly. If you want to join us in the future subscribe here.

Meanwhile, yesterday we had our third Sponsors' meeting and I'd like to give a big shout to all involved. It's a simple fact that without their support then none of all this could happen. We were joined at yesterday's meeting by one of the Publications Directors from GSK, which provided a fascinating opportunity for a very open exchange of views on a range of issues from procurement through data transparency to compliance and the moves by GSK to stop paying external doctors to speak at meetings.

More Sponsors would be useful but I'm also keen to hear from anyone who can help organise activities relevant to MedComms, with or without my direct involvement. Anywhere in the world. If you can help in any way please let me know.

AXON Communications recently hosted an event in London, The Evolving Role Of Medical Affairs And How Medical Communications Can Support, and I've now posted a summary report from the meeting alongside the presentation slides.

The programme is coming together quickly now for another of our afternoon meetings hosted by AstraZeneca on 7 July so watch this space. We'll open registration soon.

Importantly in terms of doing more to reach out to the global community, I'm delighted to announce our first meeting in Berlin will be 7 October. Trends in medical communications: what do patients, healthcare professionals and payers want, is there a role for social media and how do we measure success? will be supported by St Giles Medical. Again watch this space and pass word on to anyone who might be interested..

Before that, next month we're supporting Altmetric with a meeting in London, Research with Results: tracking engagement for MedComms and Pharma, which I understand is filling up quickly now. Whether you're joining us or not on the day please fill in our short survey. We've almost but not quite reached 100 responses already - and I want more! As always we'll aim to share the data afterwards.

So much going on... but there's more!

Plans are quickly coming together now for our new Brunch meetings in Oxford, (feel free to sign up now for the first on 4 May), when we'll hear from speakers on an eclectic range of topics and importantly we'll record and webcast the presentations for free access by the global community. I'm very keen to hear from you if you've ideas for topics or speakers. Would you like to speak yourself? I'm keen to hear from you.

Have a good week everyone and stay safe.

    Cheers
