    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 21 June 2022

    Hi

And so, it begins... Wednesday 22 June is our annual celebration of a day in the life of #MedComms. Please join in. Wherever in the world you are.

For 10 years I ran #MedComms Day and it was, frankly, crazy. In the end, simply too much for this old bloke and Teddy. So, now I've stepped back, but the baton has been picked up. Representatives from AMICULUM, Langland and Oxford PharmaGenesis are working together to facilitate a day of events and social media activities using the usual hashtag #MedComms.

Throughout the day, they hope agencies and individuals from across the MedComms community will share social media posts and host activities that highlight the diverse aspects of the industry. If nothing else, everyone, please start your day by shouting "Happy #MedComms Day" on your favourite social media platform.

Over in New Zealand the new day is already just starting as I send this newsletter. Later in the morning the Asia Pacific Quarterly Medical Writers Zoom Meeting will be run by Amanda Mao and Daniel McGowan. Everyone's welcome.

And the day rolls out from there across the time zones. Please join in, wherever in the world you are. Keep an eye on MedCommsDay.com and follow hashtag #MedComms.

Importantly, at 12.00 midday UK time on 22 June, AMICULUM, Langland and Oxford PharmaGenesis will host a virtual event, "Illuminate MedComms". Attendees can network with MedComms professionals, seek careers advice from agency HR/recruitment teams, discuss hot topics, and learn more about the industry as a whole. See the agenda and sign up here. Please encourage all relevant others to join in.

Meanwhile, last week's webinar provided an excellent introduction to working in market access with Pin Lu, Manca Povsic and Claire Woon from AMICULUM Access. The recording is now freely available at NetworkPharma.tv, as always. You can also download our new, free, careers guide, "Evidence generation and communication: a guide to getting started in HEOR/market access medical writing", any time.

Over the next couple of weeks our #MedComms webinars return to the theme of learning and development activity. Next week will focus on Lucid Group's understanding of blended learning which includes coaching, mentoring, training programmes which work in parallel with on-the-job development, and the specialist tools they apply to drive success in MedComms. Please join us.

And the following week, Rebecca Douglas (Group Programme Director, Talent), Jo Frost (Group Client Service Development Director), Sarah Lewis (VP, Medical Development Director) and Sarah Thomas (VP, Client Service Development Director) from McCann Health Medical Communications explain how their Development Directors work within their agencies to help individuals achieve their full potential at Associate level, as part of FuEL (Future Experts and Leaders), and beyond. Everyone's welcome.

We should be proud of how MedComms businesses have evolved over recent years and the increased attention being paid to supporting individuals working across the community. We should celebrate it this week, with #MedComms Day - and loudly, so!

    Stay well, everyone.
Now, please, go out and help spread the #MedComms word!

    Cheers
