    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 18 October 2016

    Hi

Many thanks to those of you who sent along delegates to participate in our inaugural Landscape Training event here in Oxford last Wednesday for recent starters in MedComms. The day long session run by Adrian Brown of Adrian Brown Consulting was attended by 12 delegates from seven companies including five Sponsors of MedComms Networking. Feedback was very positive from all who participated and we can confirm now that we'll run a similar event in Macclesfield on 7 March 2017. Once again places will be limited to ensure a fully engaging workshop for all the participants.

Meanwhile the slide presentations from our first meeting in Germany, which was supported by St GilesMedical a couple of weeks ago, have all now been made freely available online.

Also note that all four presentations from this month's MedComms Networking Brunch Meeting are now freely available as webcasts as follows:

  • Lucid Group - what MedComms means to us, what we do, how we do it, what makes us different featuring Katherine Duxbury, Scientific Director at Lucid
  • WG Access - how does Market Access relate to MedComms and how do we do it? featuring Andy Buckland, Scientific Advisor, WG Access
  • Tricks and tips for gaining that elusive first job in MedComms featuring Phil Hall, specialist Medical Communications Recruitment Consultant at Carrot Pharma Recruitment
  • Been there, done it, got the tee-shirt. Life in MedComms featuring Rick Flemming, Director at Aspire Scientific

  • You'll find a growing library of these webcasts at NetworkPharma.tv - enjoy! Please help spread the word. They're all freely accessible by everyone, everywhere. And remember, if you're interested in learning about careers in MedComms you'll find lots of information at FirstMedCommsJob.com

Looking ahead we can now confirm that the next Brunch Meeting on 2 November on Oxford will focus on publications and feature presentations from Jan Seal-Roberts, Clare Shepherd and Caroline Halford from Adis, Springer Healthcare. Once again I'd encourage you to join us if you can so you have the opportunity to chat directly with the speakers and to network with each other. Oh and lunch will be on me again! Otherwise, the webcasts will be made available for everyone to access from everywhere, as soon as possible afterwards.

As an aside, and whilst talking about the publications business, I'd encourage you to follow ThePublicationPlan.com where Ryan Woodrow and the team from Aspire Scientific are doing a great job of selecting and reviewing relevant news for us all.

Finally good luck today to the guys at one of our Sponsors, Prime Global aka @PrimeGlobalBuzz - the new name for The Prime Medical Group. They're busy working away this afternoon, re-branding everything and switching on their new web sites and social media channels. Undoubtedly a few celebratory cakes will also be consumed along the way!

Do keep me informed about your own news. I'm keen to hear about anything that's relevant to MedComms and I'll happily do what I can to help share it.

    Have a good week everyone.

    Cheers
