    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 17 December 2019

    Hi

I've a sense of deja vu! Despite my best efforts, once again we've arrived at the end of another year with all the associated problems that brings. Not least of which, it seems, is that many of you have already turned on your 'OOO' alerts. Maybe you just want a break from your never-ending stream of messages. I'll happily do a little to help lighten your email load, for a short while at least. See you on the other side, on 7 January. Having said which, I'm here throughout and happy to chat, if you're so inclined!

It means, though, when we get back to our desks we won't have long before our next Careers event in Oxford. Please take a moment now to ping a quick message to any contacts who might be thinking about joining MedComms. Encourage them to sign up and attend on 16 January. They're all welcome. The more the merrier. After all, they are the life blood for our business. We all win by attracting more, talented, individuals to MedComms.

Meanwhile, many thanks to everyone who participated in last week's event, hosted by Steven Walker and his team from Stgilesmedical, Involving patients in research and medical writing. There were some excellent talks and discussions. The slides are now available along with some personal, aide-memoire notes, jotted down and shared by Michael Achiampong.

At that meeting, Steven announced the launch of a new Medical Communications E-Learning course, for the aspiring medical writer and editor. It's still being tidied up, so Steven has offered 10 free vouchers to any wannabes who'll genuinely offer some rigorous user-testing and feedback. Email him directly on Steven.Walker@stgmed.com to volunteer.

The MedComms community has come a long way in improving training and development opportunities, for individuals at all stages of their careers. But there's plenty of room for more. Specifically, there must be a huge opportunity for more e-learning type activity across the board.

I like to think I'm doing my bit and another series of 10 free, weekly, webinars will start on 29 January with Nurturing a digital, mutlichannel, mindset in MedComms. That'll be followed by FirstMedCommsJob: In conversation with the account managers, then Leadership Development at Envision then Training and Nurturing Expertise in Medical Writing and so on... you get the idea. Hopefully, we'll continue to cover a broad range of topics. Wherever possible we'll continue to post recordings in the MedComms YouTube channel and add them to the NetworkPharma.tv collection.

I admit I'm quietly proud of how much content we've developed and made freely accessible this year for the #MedComms community. It's been heartening to see the positive support I've received, for instance on Linkedin, recently. (OK, maybe not so quiet then!). Much more is coming. All feedback welcomed.

So, enjoy yourself and may all your new year wishes come true. Remember, details of all our activities are kept bang up-to-date at www.MedCommsNetworking.com or give me a shout at any time if you've any questions, comments or suggestions.

    Cheers
