WEEKLY COMMENT
Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. MedComms Networking - 17 November 2020
Hi
I've found myself making some interesting decisions this week. I think our new lockdown is getting to me! How's your week going?
For instance, yesterday I decided - no face-to-face events in 2021. Am I being too extreme? Too cautious? Too what? Share your thoughts in this LinkedIn discussion thread.
I'm not sure. But I want a plan I can work with. One that has at least some certainty. Life is hard enough as it is.
The #MedComms webinars will stop over the holiday period so we can gather breath, then we'll start again on 20 January. In 2021 we will take a run at it and there will at least be the weekly webinar every Wednesday at 12.00 UK time through until the Summer. We'll take another breath and then run through to the end of the year. That's a lot of Wednesdays to fill. So if you have suggestions for topics or speakers or best of all if you'd like to join in, please let me know. We'll also be running irregular Extra Webinars and other online events. We won't run face-to-face meetings in 2021.
Your thoughts are welcomed.
Meanwhile, a shout out to the team from Brandcast Health who joined me last week to talk about their company, what MedComms means for them and the different roles within their teams. Brandcast prides itself on being a digital medcomms agency and you'll find the backgrounds of the panellists are a little different to many of the others we've talked to on these webinars. It's a reminder that MedComms embraces quite a broad range of activities and people.
Tomorrow's webinar should be interesting. 2021 will see a new ABPI Code of Practice come into force. Although it is still in draft, Jayne Packham will take us through the key changes that are being proposed and how they will impact the MedComms community. Jayne has worked with the Code for over 30 years, training both pharmaceutical companies and agencies, so she has considerable expertise that she will share with us. Everyone's welcome. Please join us..
Importantly, then on Thursday we have an Extra #MedComms webinar, primarily for the wannabes, but again everyone is welcome. Daniel Cicognani (HR Business Partner), Phillip Hall (Recruitment Manager), Hannah Logan (Senior Medical Writer) and Ruth Hadley (Head of Client Services) will share details of the new FUEL initiative from McCann Health Medical Communications, launched this week, for those looking to launch a successful career in medical communications.
It's maybe worth making the point at the moment, loudly and publicly, that MedComms is open for business and many agencies are recruiting at all levels. If you haven't done so recently, check out NextMedCommsJob.com and you'll see the numbers of job ads are returning to sensible levels after the hiatus earlier this year.
Remember, details of all our activities are kept bang up-to-date at www.MedCommsNetworking.com or give me a shout at any time if you've any questions, comments or suggestions.
Stay safe and well, everyone.
Cheers
