    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. MedComms Networking - 15 May 2018

    Hi

I admit I'm mildly excited today. We've more than 100 videos freely available for you now, whenever you want them, at NetworkPharma.tv. You're welcome!

The three latest webcasts, from the last Brunch Club meeting, highlight the changing nature of industry-supported medical education:

  • Quality of medical education in a changing world - Sophie Wilson, Director of CME Services at International Medical Press and current Chair of the Good CME Practice group, reviews the key principles that can ensure successful medical education activities (13.55 minutes).
  • Medical education in Europe - at a point of inflection? - Eugene Pozniak of the European CME Forum and Siyemi Learning reflects on the historical development of CME activities in Europe and describes some of the different roles of medcomms agencies and CME providers in delivering medical education in collaboration with other stakeholders (29.15 minutes).
  • Highlights of the 10th Annual European CME Forum- Eugene Pozniak of the European CME Forum and Siyemi Learning shares key learnings from the 10th European CME Forum, 8-19 November 2017, Dublin (24.45 minutes).

  • So, grab some cake, gather your team, stream the webcasts freely into your room, and see what you can learn.

By the way, if you've any interest in medical education you should check out details of the next European CME Forum, which takes place in London, 7-9 November 2018.

Meanwhile, we'll film more webcasts for NetworkPharma.tv at our next Brunch Club meeting on 13 June. Talks from the team at Taylor and Francis Group will cover copyright and permissions, open access, the submission process from the publisher's point of view, preprints and peer review and more. Please join us.

I'll also admit to being tired today! I ran another Meet the Agencies Day yesterday. I'm now waiting for the formal feedback but it all seemed to work well. Thanks to all the Sponsors of FirstMedCommsJob.com for supporting these activities, which benefit so many, but in particular my thanks to 7.4 Limited, Ashfield Healthcare Communications, Envision Pharma Group, Fishawack Group, Lucid Group and Oxford PharmaGenesis for joining us yesterday. The format works well but crikey, it's an intense day for all! And best wishes to the wannabes. One year on from each previous event, 50 percent of delegates had found their first job in MedComms. I look forward to seeing what happens to our class of 2018.

Talking about organising cake and gathering the team together, our next (4th) MedComms Virtual event will be at 13.00 BST on 12 July; Audience Engagement at Events: An Art or a Science? Please join us. Everyone, everywhere is welcome.

Have a great week. I'm starting to hear from people about their plans for #MedComms Day on 6 June. Give me a shout anytime if you'd like to chat about your own ideas. Most importantly for now, everyone, please support the Thunderclap! All I need each year is 100 supporters, which sounds easy to achieve - but isn't. You guys really make me work for them!

    Cheers
