    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. MedComms Networking - 13 September 2016

    Hi

Tomorrow we're in Manchester for our MedComms careers event with what looks like being a large crowd of MedComms specialists meeting a large crowd of wannabes. My thanks to all involved.

It appears recruitment of experienced staff within MedComms remains a major challenge and we're currently seeing a number of more creative and high profile approaches, such as the new campaign from Lucid. My own view remains that as a community we need to continually shout about how great this business is and attract new talent in from outside. Do let me know if you can help us build the FirstMedCommsJob.com resources.

In the pursuit of new staff in the UK we long ago moved beyond the traditional three foci of activity in Oxford, Macclesfield and London - you may have seen my map of UK offices - but now Oxford PharmaGenesis are pushing the boundaries further still with their new office in Cardiff. They're even writing press releases in Welsh!

It would be good to see more MedComms Networking activities developing in these distant lands! I'll happy help where I can and I list all events I know of. So it's great to see Mary Greenacre setting a date for anyone working in MedComms in the North East UK to meet informally in Newcastle on 3 October. There'll be freelancers and I know a number of agency staff are working remotely from there too.

Specifically for freelancers, Lisa Stewart is continuing her evenings in Cheshire with the next one on 27 September, and likewise Jen Lewis has confirmed her next date, 14 October in Cambridge. I also know Jenny Fanstone in Oxford, Corinne Swainger in London and Jane Tricker in Kent will all soon announce dates. So watch this space or reach out to the organisers directly eg using Linkedin.

I'm particularly keen to see more activity outside the UK. Importantly our first event is coming together in Berlin for 7 October, supported by StGiles Medical. We've a good level of interest in this already so please help spread the word further.

Reaching out to the many of you around the globe, let alone elsewhere in the UK, is clearly the point of building our new library of webcasts at NetworkPharma.tv and last week's Brunch Club event about medical education provided another excellent four presentations. The first two by Eugene Pozniak are now available and well worth watching.

  • European CME Forum - its role in the evolving CME landscape

  • Independent medical education in Europe - who is calling the shots? Where next?

Note, if you're interested in medical education and CME in particular, the early bird price ends this Saturday for the next European CME Forum meeting, Amsterdam, 9-11 November.

All the NetworkPharma.tv webcasts are designed to provide bite-size chunks of learning in 15-20 minutes. We've already a useful mix of good content and I'm keen to hear your ideas for more speakers and topics.

To end, hopefully with a laugh, see The agony of trying to unsubscribe. Enjoy.

    Cheers
