    MedComms Networking - 12 December 2017

    Hi

First this week we've a couple of big shout outs please!

Healthcare21 Communications have joined our elite group of leading companies that provide sponsorship support for the MedComms Networking community activity. It's very simple - without the support of this group none of all this activity would be possible. And there's lots happening that benefits many people. So, kudos to all these guys.

And Envision Pharma Group are now supporting our FirstMedComms.com activity for wannabes. So a huge thanks to them and all the Sponsors of that service. We've lots planned for 2018 with FirstMedCommsJob.com and all help is welcome.

Our new careers guide, The business of medical communications: A guide to getting started in account management, authored by Lindsey Heer, is well on track for publication as planned in January. The style and format follows our existing, well-established and very successful, guide about medical writing. We've about 20 companies signed up so far to feature in the new account managers' guide and we've still space for some more. I'm doing my best to contact anyone who might be interested but please don't hesitate to give me a shout directly if you want to join in. Everything has to be sorted this month so we're needing some quick decisions but it's very straightforward.

We'll then update and republish the writers' guide in March, as usual. That will be our tenth annual issue - so, hopefully, a bumper one! Let me know if you want to be in it.

Today, I can also confirm the launch of another new FirstMedCommsJob.com initiative. We're going to run a unique workshop; Writing skills for medical writers: what MedComms agencies expect. The first pilot event will be on 8 February and tickets are now available. Just 10 delegates twill attend an intensive day's session led by John Dixon, Trainer in scientific writing and presentation skills, and to walk away with a directly relevant certificate of completion to add to their CV. With guidance from the FirstMedCommsJob.com Sponsors, and hosted by Media Contacts, this should be a valuable addition to the options available to the many who are aiming to start work as a medical writer. Assuming all goes well with the pilot event then we'll run the workshops regularly thereafter. If you're interested in attending on 8 February then do sign up quickly - there are only 10 places - or if you want more details about future plans do feel free to contact me directly, as always, at any time.

There's lots more coming from us for the wannabes. Watch this space. Please spread the word. Remember our next careers event is coming up fast - 11 January in Oxford. Anyone with an interest in joining MedComms can attend for free.

But I'm also keen to hear what you're doing for the wannabes. Here's another training scheme for new entries - Lucid Group's Futures Academy. If you know of others let me know and I'll help pass word on.

    Have a good week, everyone.

    Cheers
