    MedComms Networking - 10 May 2016

    Hi

In fairness it's not often I feel like I'm beaten but over this past week the technology - and MACs in particular - have had me beat, good and proper!

Apart from anything else, today I was hoping to announce the availability of our new Webcasts following last week's Brunch Club meeting but sadly I'll now have to ask you all to be patient until next week. We had four excellent presentations on the day and I think it'll certainly be worth the wait to be able to offer you all the opportunity to view them fully and freely from wherever in the world you are, but please bear with us for a few days more. I would like to say a huge thanks to Richard White and Paul Farrow of Oxford PharmaGenesis and to Jackie Marchington of Caudex for rising above the various challenges on the day and delivering some really useful content to an appreciative audience.

I remain convinced that the Brunch Club format will be a useful approach once we settle down into it, and I'd encourage you to sign up to join us for the next one on 1 June when we're expecting to hear what the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA) offers MedComms specialists, the highlights from their annual meeting that is happening this week in Munich and, for instance, more about EMWA's Ghostwriting Positioning Statement. Again there will be a useful mix of presentations from specialist speakers and a great opportunity for a small group of us to gather to meet and chat informally about our business. Everyone is welcome. Sign up in the usual way simply by emailing me directly. Or sit back and wait to watch the webcasts.

Meanwhile I'm hoping all goes well with the technology at tomorrow's Meet the agencies careers event here in Oxford. We've 22 very impressive looking post-graduate wannabe MedComms Specialists attending with a view to getting up close and personal with representatives from six leading agencies. It's notable that just in the past week we've had 4 delegates drop out - in all cases only because they'd had confirmation of new jobs in MedComms! So it looks like we're attracting the right quality of delegate and I've high hopes for the remaining 22. No pressure then! A big thanks to 7.4 Limited, Ashfield Healthcare Communications, Fishawack Group, Highfield:Communication, inScience Communications and Oxford PharmaGenesis for participating. It's a new format for us, but what can possibly go wrong...

Over at FirstMedCommsJob.com we've posted a couple of new contributions over the past week from Virgo Health; A day in the life of Laura Evans, Associate Medical Writer and also a Video showing some interviews with Virgo Health employees explaining what they like about their work. We need more of this sort of information in my opinion - simple to produce and easy to share and we all win. If you have anything similar to share then do let me know.

    Have a good week everyone.

    Cheers
