    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. MedComms Networking - 10 January 2017

    Hi

I have the party hats. The cake. The balloons. About 100 guests are listed - but I want more! If you are joining us on 25 January to celebrate 10 years of MedComms Networking activity then let me know quickly now. The countdown has started.

And please, everyone, support our Thunderclap - you're making it way harder for me than I expected! As of now we've 31 supporters but I need 100 for us to hear the Thunder at 12.00 BST on 25 January. If you can't be in Oxford on the day then join in from wherever in the world you are. Have a drink and raise a toast or share some cake with colleagues and reflect on how far MedComms has developed in 10 years and ponder what will happen over the next 10. Then please share what you do and your thoughts on the day on Twitter using hashtag #MedComms and use your Linkedin status to spread the message. We do good work here - let's shout about it!

We had another excellent Brunch Club meeting last week. I find it strange that more of you don't come along to meet the Speakers (and have a free lunch on me) but anyway, the latest slides are now available to download and the important point is the webcasts are coming quickly now. We've already posted the first, with Eugene Pozniak reflecting on what happened at the recent 9th Annual European CME Forum (9-11 November 2016). There's good content in there for anyone with an interest in medical education. It's interesting to hear how EFPIA and members of the International Pharmaceutical Alliance for CME (iPACME) are finally starting to define how industry supports CME in Europe and to see greater clarity in the differing roles of MedComms agencies and CME providers. I should note here for the record that I founded and then managed the European CME Forum with Eugene until I stepped away last year.

We also heard a couple of great presentations, from Rachael Lammey and Kirsty Meddings, about Crossref and specifically the Crossmark button ( I confess I had no idea about the potential value of that button!) and another with really practical advice from Caroline Halford of Adis about how a judicious approach to presubmission enquiries and discussions with journal editors can aid successful article submissions. When the webcasts are ready they'll be added to the library at NetworkPharma.tv or view then directly on the MedComms Youtube channel. View them anytime in your own time or use them as the basis for team learning activities. They're all freely accessible, from wherever in the world you are.

Meanwhile, Oxford PharmaGenesis are exploring technological innovations in scientific publishing and would be delighted if you complete their survey before close of play on Thursday 12 January. Many thanks!

Enjoy your week, everyone. Im looking forward to our MedComms Careers event on Thursday and then to seeing many of you at the 2017 European meeting of ISMPP next week.

    Cheers
