Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.
MedComms Networking - 09 August 2016
Thanks so much, Peter; we promote this extensively at the University of Birmingham. Such a great resource! We have a lot of undergraduates and post-graduates keen to explore the range of careers and the presentations are excellent.
Jenny Mullins-White, Careers Consultant - Medical and Dental Sciences at the University of Birmingham wrote in response to yesterday's announcement that we'd just posted three new agency presentations online at the FirstMedCommsJob.com information service. It's great to receive such positive feedback.
Last week's MedComms Networking Brunch Meeting worked really well and my thanks go to all participants. The three agency presentations are freely available as follows:
Darwin Healthcare Communications - what MedComms means to us, what we do, how we do it, what makes us different
by Anna Timbrell, Darwin Healthcare Communications
Seven Point Four (an AMICULUM agency) - what MedComms means to us, what we do, how we do it, what makes us different
by Matt Evans, Seven Point Four
Comradis (an AMICULUM agency) - working in MedComms, focused on rare diseases
by Jon Morton, Comradis
I'm sure they'll be of interest to many of you who already work in MedComms, as well as the wannabes. They all have something different to say about MedComms and complement each other nicely. Personally I'd like to see many more such presentations demonstrating the array of unique styles and cultures amongst this specialist community. Anyone interested?
You'll find a growing number of webcasts at NetworkPharma.tv - enjoy! Please help spread the word.
Our next Brunch meeting is 7 September when we'll work with Eugene Pozniak of European CME Forum to talk about Global medical education, Interprofessional Education, Measuring effectiveness of education and Independent medical education in Europe. We're not sure who exactly the speakers are yet but several world-leading experts will be in Oxford that week for another conference and we're grabbing them while they're here! Whatever happens it'll be interesting - and fun - so if you want to join us then drop me a line in the usual way. If not then look forward to viewing the webcasts but being there on the day will always be much more useful and hopefully some of you will take advantage.
Finally and importantly, the first of our new MedComms Landscape Training events will be in Oxford on 12 October and it's now open for registration. Adrian Brown of Adrian Brown Consulting, with support from MedComms Networking, will run a regular one day training workshop every 6 months for individuals with about 12-18 months' experience of working for MedComms agencies. The programme is being developed with input from the Sponsors of MedComms Networking and will include:
The global pharmaceutical industry and who the main players are
The drug development process
How pharmaceutical companies market their drugs
Medical communications and the role of specialist MedComms and other services
The regulatory and compliance environment impacting on MedComms
Check out the programme details and contact Adrian Brown on Adrian@adrianbrownconsulting.com directly for the booking information.
Enjoy your week, everyone.
