MedComms Networking - 08 September 2020
Hi
It's been fascinating to see the veritable explosion in online activity from companies, professional organisations and many individuals over the past few months. Not just associations moving their annual conferences online, but webinars and podcasts abound around us. Everyone's having a go. Much of it free, though too much is still kept behind closed doors or paywalls. It's also been fascinating to watch experiments with pricing models.
If you are doing something directly relevant to any or all MedComms professionals - or if you see someone else doing so - let me know and let's share those resources better between us. Many are still kept unnecessarily quiet or announcements get lost in the social media torrent. At least use the hashtag #MedComms before the event to highlight it to this community in good time.
Many more of us should now have the opportunity to access many more interesting discussions. Without moving from our desks.
For instance, Mark Handforth is leading a discussion about the new French Anti Gift Law with a specific focus on meetings and events on 24 September [more details and free registration here].
Frustratingly, much of the time all we see is a mention of how good a webinar was, and there's no more detail.
Certainly, if you run such activities and can freely share the outputs then let me know and I'll pass word on. If it's on video and we can see who's talking, I'll happily add it to the collection at NetworkPharma.tv where I've always been keen to curate relevant MedComms content from third parties, but I've been frustrated by a lack of appropriate content. It's not supposed to just be my own recordings. Now we should be able to add much more in.
On that note, our regular #MedComms webinars are starting again and will run through to the Christmas period. We'll stick to the regular weekly Wednesday format, starting at 12.00 midday UK time and ending promptly at 13.00. We begin on 30 September with another FirstMedCommsJob: Meet the Agencies session with representatives from six MedComms agencies. I'm looking forward to hearing how they've coped with on-boarding entry level recruits over the past few months and how their approaches might change in future. The week after we'll talk about ensuring clarity in medical communications with McCann Health Medical Communications. The following week we'll hear more about working in regulatory medical writing with Insight Medical Writing and the week after that is Open Access week 2020, so that week's webinar will Publishing open access saves lives with the Open Pharma team. And so on. Please join us. Please help spread the word. Please let me know your ideas for future topics or speakers or if you would like to volunteer to join in.
Remember, details of all our activities are kept bang up-to-date at www.MedCommsNetworking.com or give me a shout at any time if you've any questions, comments or suggestions.
Stay safe and well, everyone.
Cheers
