    MedComms Networking - 05 March 2019

    Hi

It's that time of the year when I ask the Sponsors of MedComms Networking - very nicely - if they'll continue to support us. Please, let's give a great big shout out to these elite #MedComms leaders.

It's simply the case that none of all this MedComms Networking activity would happen without them (and, to be honest, we could do with more so, if you want to join them please shout!).

Last week we ran a useful online workshop using the Zoom video platform, 'Using digital gaming in MedComms programmes'. This was led by Carla Brown, Founder and Director of Game Dr, a STEM and tech startup focused on development of mobile games for science and healthcare education. Twenty of us enjoyed an informal discussion about gaming and apps, with lots of insights from Carla into the challenges of developing such projects.

I've now set up three more online video workshops led by relevant specialists. In all cases we'll restrict attendance to about 20, keeping them informal and video-based:

  • 21 March, led by Peter Joshua talking about KOL and stakeholder identification and mapping [programme and registration details]

  • 28 March, led by Faisal Ahmed, talking about the communications digital landscape and future gazing [programme and registration details]

  • 4 April, led by Jenny Plant, talking about how account managers can help agencies grow [programme and registration details]

  • It's worth noting that Carla's workshop sold out in 48 hours so I'm curious to see what happens with these new ones.

Yesterday we also used Zoom to run a very useful workshop for the freelancers who subscribe to the MedComms Workbook service. PIA Commercial Life Science Insurance Manager Mike Cherrington, joined us to talk about the different forms of insurance for freelancers and why it is vital for them to have cover, specifically Professional Indemnity Insurance (PI). Contrary, perhaps, to popular belief, Mike assured us that PI claims are indeed sometimes made against freelancers, and whilst most don't "go all the way", freelancers can still face quite sizeable legal fees if they get caught up in a dispute. The PI insurance includes legal defence costs.

We've more Zoom meetings coming. Please do join in. I don't, however, want to forget that face-to-face is always best. So, if you can, please join us in London for Scientific storytelling and audience engagement II, hosted by AMICULUM, on 23 May. There's plenty of space at that one.

Finally, Judith Grice has asked me to pass on a special offer for you. For just 7 days you can get a 30 percent discount on a copy of her new book, Compliance, codes and communications (6th edition), which reflects the requirements of the latest ABPI Code. Thereafter,it's a 10 percent discount. So, move quickly and use the discount code nwpharma19 (all lower case) to get your full discount before 12 March.

Remember, details of all our activities are kept bang up-to-date at www.MedCommsNetworking.com or give me a shout at any time if you've any questions, comments or suggestions.

    Cheers
