    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 04 October 2016

    Hi

We're somehow close to making it to the 10 year anniversary of MedComms Networking. Bonkers, but true. The official birthday is 25 January 2017 - keep the date free. It seems a lifetime ago we started at the QI Club (alas no longer with us) in Oxford, which we filled to more than capacity!

With 100 delegates now signed up to meet in Berlin on Friday, we might be seeing something interesting start over there. Kudos to Steven Walker and his team from StGiles Medical for taking the initiative. Of course, it depends on quite how many turn up and how the discussions go on the day, but the starting point is getting the crowd of interesting people together - interesting things might then develop. If you can't join us then follow hashtag #MedComms on Twitter for updates.

Now, about those proposed activities in the likes of San Francisco and Singapore... Come on guys, you know who you are. Let's see some action!

Meanwhile, we've another Brunch Club meeting on Thursday. We're talking about getting a job in MedComms. We've still space for more to join us, so please help spread the word. As always, though, the Brunch Club is all about producing the webcasts for everyone to access, any time - so watch this space.

Talking about getting a job in MedComms, our next Open Careers event is 12 January 2017, back in Oxford for what is now a much-anticipated annual event. Please help spread the word amongst your own relevant contacts in Academia and elsewhere. We welcome anyone with an interest in learning more about careers in MedComms, now or anytime in the future. We sold out our exhibition space for the MedComms agencies within just a few days of announcing the date, so now we just need to bring in the wannabes! For those who are keen to move more quickly, note Ashfield Healthcare Communications have announced their next Assessment Day will take place on 21 October. It's a bumper one this time with 10 roles to be filled and roles can be based at any of the offices in Macclesfield, Witney, Maidenhead, London, Glasgow or Ashby. Find out more at FirstMedCommsJob.com.

By the way, do please remember to send me your news. Whether it be about assessment days, successful client projects, new start-ups, appointments or office moves. Anything at all. If nothing else I tweet what I hear about, and post at MedCommsNews.com so do help me stay up-to-date. Feel free to post news directly to the MedComms Networking Linkedin page - nearly 4,000 members now and yet still strangely quiet! What does it take to get you all to talk to each other? Answers on a (virtual) postcard please. It's certainly been good to see all the noise on social media this week from McCann Complete Medical about their new offices in Manchester. There's no harm in shouting about what you are up to. How else will anyone know?

    Have a good week everyone.

    Cheers
