    WEEKLY COMMENT

Every Tuesday we send out the MedComms Networking email newsletter to subscribers. It includes brief commentary on what we're doing and planning, and highlights relevant news to encourage sharing of information, experiences and ideas and to stimulate discussion. The text and links included below, by definition, were accurate on the day of publication, but may then become outdated.

    MedComms Networking - 03 December 2019

    Hi

First, many thanks to Jenny Plant for leading last week's #MedComms webinar. Research carried out by Frederick Reichheld of Bain and Co (the inventor of the net promoter score) showed that increasing your client retention rate by as little as 5 percent can increase profits by between 25 to 95 percent. Couple that with the fact it's five to twenty five times cheaper to grow existing clients rather than get new clients and you have a very compelling case to have a strategy in place to develop an agency's existing client base. Once again, we had a great discussion directed by the audience on the day, and once again if you missed the event you can now watch the recording for free, any time, from wherever you are. All our videos are freely available at NetworkPharma.tv (I've collected together more than 200 relevant videos now) or visit our MedComms YouTube channel.

Or go to this new one directly; The benefits of having a client development strategy [38.56 minutes]

Now, tomorrow, we've our 'Grand Finale' of the 2019 webinars (don't worry, we're back in 2020). We'll meet with the Publishers, and specifically we'll be joined by Caroline Halford (Springer Healthcare), Hamish McDougall (SAGE Publishing), Jonathan Patience (Taylor and Francis) and Joanne Walker (Future Science Group). That should be fun.

Join us online for an hour. Then get back to work.

Gather your colleagues together. Share some cake. Use the opportunity to spark discussion within your own teams about how what you hear might be put to practical use in your own work.

Meanwhile here are some news snippets you might have missed over the past few days...

  • New recommendations to stimulate braver and bolder communications. The Healthcare Communications Association (HCA) in partnership with 90TEN announced the publication of Cannes or Canned? - a report that makes five key recommendations to fuel greater creativity and innovation in healthcare and scientific communications.

  • Prime Global has been ranked as one of the UK's fastest growing private companies, for the second year running, in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Award!

  • Oxford PharmaGenesis Arrives in Cambridge - Oh, Cambridge. How do we kick start some local MedComms Networking activity there? I've tried but so far failed to achieve traction... Anyone?

  • And take a moment to weep while you read this one; Apostrophe campaign ends due to 'ignorance and laziness' or this one; The pedants' pedant: why the Apostrophe Protection Society has closed in disgust

  • Finally and most importantly, our end-of-year meeting is next week in London on 10 December, hosted by Stgilesmedical. We'd love to see you there. Involving patients in research and medical writing features some impressive speakers and we're gathering an interesting crowd. After last year's packed house we've moved into the church next door, so we've plenty of room. Please, everyone, join us.

Remember, details of all our activities are kept bang up-to-date at www.MedCommsNetworking.com or give me a shout at any time if you've any questions, comments or suggestions.

    Cheers
