    MedComms Networking - 02 February 2016

    Hi

First a big shout out for SLS MedComms, the latest Specialist MedComms Recruiter to start supporting our Community activities. We've a good group of specialist Recruiters supporting us now as you'll see highlighted on our Classified Jobs page. Whether you're looking for a job or looking to fill a position, I'd encourage you to work with these guys first if possible. It must say something about them that they invest in the community they serve rather than simply taking your cash! Most of them now are advertising their MedComms jobs via our specialist Jobs board at NextMedCommsJob.com, which helps make that far and away the biggest central resource of jobs information specifically for our community. In fact we are reaching record levels of jobs at the moment with over 700 listed this morning. If you work with other specialist Recruiters you think would be appropriate to be involved do encourage them to contact me.

Importantly we also now list a good number of jobs direct from various employers and frankly I'd like to see many more of those. Ideally lots more from outside the UK as well. If you would like to post relevant jobs with us then just drop me a line and I'll happily explain how it all works.

Having said which it appears the majority of you are very satisfied with your current position and have little if any intention of moving! Many thanks to the 374 individuals who joined in with the MedComms Barometer for 2016, which closed on Sunday. The data is now freely accessible to all and makes for some interesting reading. My real interest is to see how - if - answers change over time so I'll now be looking forward to next year. It's made me think about a few things but I'll leave it to you for now to browse the data and please add your thoughts and comments to the new Linkedin discussion. Or drop me a line directly and say what you think in private. Remember you'll find several of our previous surveys freely and fully available to peruse as you like at our Surveys page.

Meanwhile to follow up my point last week about accessing information from ISMPP's recent European meeting, Ryan and the Aspire Scientific team have published comprehensive reviews of days 1 and 2 at their free news resource, ThePublicationPlan.com and ISMPP themselves are releasing presentations in PDF format to their Meeting Archives as permissions are received (though that will be for members only). Last week's free-to-all webinar from ISMPP, Adventures in Manuscript Development: Good Publication Practice in the Real World, was well worth attending and if you weren't able to then the archive version is currently available from their home page but, as I understand it, only for a limited period of time.

A highlight of ISMPP Europe for me was the Keynote from Vitek Tracz. If you've not heard him speak then may I recommend this; The five deadly sins of science publishing.

    Cheers
